Sunday Shares | What I've Been Loving

Sunday, January 14, 2018

Hi, friends. Thanks for checking in. Welcome to my new bi-weekly "series" where my previous 3 Things posts and monthly wrap-ups come together for Sunday Shares (that name could very well change, who knows). This is where I talk to you about what's up in my life lately, what I'm listening to, reading, enjoying, etc. A nice chatty post for us to sit down and enjoy together, every other Sunday.

Here's what I've been loving lately:

Oprah's Golden Globes speech

I can't not talk about Oprah's speech at the Golden Globes for the lifetime achievement award. You've probably heard it, but if you somehow haven't, or just feel like crying again, you can watch it here.

"So I want all the girls watching, here and now, to know that a new day is on the horizon. And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say 'me too' again."

HQ Trivia

I'm a big fan of trivia, even though I'm pretty average at it. I love going to trivia nights at local restaurants. So, it's no surprise that I loved the HQ trivia app on my first try. It's a live trivia game show where you can win actual money. It's fun to play, and the potential cash prize is a nice bonus. There's a game every day at 8 p.m. CST. There are 12 questions total, and if you answer them all right, you win. The prize is $2,000, split between all the winners. Use the referral code "nicoleslawww" when you sign up!

Beauty Professional Performance Buffer

For Christmas, I got a makeup brush set, which was great because I am always down for new makeup brushes. My favorite of the bunch was a buffer for foundation and cream products. Either I'm out of the beauty loop or these things are new. I've never heard of a buffer brush before. It works great though and has become my everyday go-to for applying foundation or BB cream.

I haven't been able to find it anywhere except from Sam's Club as part of the set.

@WeeklyKinley

I love those comparison pictures you see online showing how much a baby or pet has grown. A newborn baby lying next to a stuffed animal bigger than them beside a picture of the same kid as a teenager holding that stuffed animal in one hand. A tiny puppy on their giant dog bed beside a picture of them fully grown, taking up all of the space on the same dog bed. I love them. So I'm really excited for my friend's Instagram account, @WeeklyKinley, filled with pictures of her baby each week. It's the cutest.

"Showing the Real, Not the Highlight Reel" – Sounds Good podcast

I don't remember how I stumbled upon this podcast but I did, and I was drawn to this episode from the title alone. It was all about how we share our lives on social media and the importance of not only sharing the good moments but the honest, vulnerable ones too. I enjoyed listening to it because I agree with it. I try to do that myself. If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably noticed that I kind of treat it like an online diary. We're all human. There's no use in hiding it.
