Sunday Shares | What I've Been Loving

Sunday, May 6, 2018

I usually write these posts on the Saturday morning before it goes up, but this time it's pretty late, about 10:30 at night. And to be honest, I'm hoping to crank it out kinda quickly because there's ice cream in the freezer and it's not gonna eat itself.

This past week has been really, really good. While I don't want to jinx it, I'd say spring is finally here to stay. The happiest time of the year. It's been I'll-be-fine-without-a-jacket warm and I'm loving it. Today it hit 80. I wore a dress. I spent my morning reading on the balcony and my afternoon having a picnic lunch with Rahul and lying in the sun. What could be better.

Here's what I've been loving lately:

Using a backpack as a purse

I'm not talking about one of those tiny, fashionable ones that, yes, are a backpack but also feel like they're too nice to casually throw around. I have one of those (pictured here), and I like it but it isn't as casual as I'd like for everyday use. Plus, you know I carry a book and water bottle with me everywhere, and they were a bit of a struggle to squeeze in.

In any case, I bought another one from Target. A little bigger, a little more casual. And it has stripes, to match the majority of my wardrobe. Using a backpack purse for everyday use is a game changer. I can keep just as much junk in it as I do with a normal purse except I can have the weight balanced on both of my shoulders, and I don't have to worry about it falling if I bend over to pick something up. I am here for it.

Buddify

Don't skip out on reading about this one just because it's a meditation app. Hear me out: it can be beneficial for you even if you aren't into meditating. I've been loving it and I wouldn't really say I fully meditate. I've been using it the most during car rides, to ease any anxiety or worries I have.

There are a ton of meditation apps out there but what I love the most about this one is how simple and user-friendly the interface is. You're given a wheel of different categories, including "Waking Up," "Stress and Difficult Emotion," and "Growing The Lovely." Once you click in to a category, you choose from a handful of tracks which you want to listen to. I think it's a great way to spend five to ten minutes taking a breather, dispelling any negative energy.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious mascara

My new go-to mascara. I know I've this before but since I have very fine eyelashes, I'm always trying new mascaras. It's probably the one makeup product I experiment with the most. (I actually searched "mascara" on my site to see how frequently I say this. Turns out I've recommended mascaras twice before, and both times I mentioned how my lashes are fine and I try new mascaras a lot. Oh.) I'm loving this one because it makes my lashes thicker without clumping them together. They're voluminous and fanned out.

"Superstore"

Rahul has been watching this show for a while now and I'm just getting into it. Since I've watched a handful of the most recent episodes, I know where part of the storyline ends up. Still, it doesn't make any of the episodes less funny. It's a comedy on NBC about employees at Cloud 9 Superstore (a Walmart, essentially). It's similar to "The Office" in the sense that it takes ordinary people in an ordinary, or even dull, setting and makes it great.

John Mulaney's "Kid Gorgeous"

That John Mulaney show I saw in Chicago back in January? It's on Netflix now, and it's great.
